Casual Connect 2008: Save a seat for me!

I’m so sad I missed the recent Casual Connect conference since I’d just decided to give my gaming blog a little more attention. Well, maybe next year, and by then I hope to have built enough content to earn a press pass.

After so many years writing about mainstream video games, why have I decided to write a blog about casual games? I believe that this is a huge business today, and secondly, it is a legitimate, honest revenue avenue for indie game developers who NEED to start making some money if they want to build games they love. This blog will also be dedicated to news, views and reviews of independent games but I’m only one person, but I do hope to give a fresh perspective as a parent and an ex games journo to reporting on the industry.

I know, there must be a million gamers out there who are offering their ‘fresh’ perspectives, so what makes me different? We’ll just have to see, won’t we?

I’ve also decided to do video reviews of the casual games as well as written ones, simply because I have the tools and a lot of people prefer to watch than read. Hopefully, this will draw a larger audience for me in the future.

I’m off to Chicago next Wednesday for Blogher 07 (I know, yikes!) so I’ll be back on the 30th, so there won’t be any real updates until then. In the meantime, please feel free to leave your comments. I’d love to hear from all two of you ;) .
